“Jabberwocky means family. There’s no stronger bond than the one that holds Jabberwockians together.”

What it’s all about

From the end of June to the end of August, Camp Jabberwocky offers children and adults with a wide range of disabilities the chance to enjoy the summer in a small family-like community – living together and enjoying jam-packed days filled with adventurous activities and experiences that are safe, empowering, exciting and fun. While at camp, campers enjoy activities and classes on campus and out and about in the community of Martha’s Vineyard.

At Jabberwocky, people with different abilities form the majority in the community. Their needs become priority needs; their concerns become concerns. And in this age, when cultural and individual sense of belonging is waning, a community that works is a light of hope.

Camp Jabberwocky is completely tuition‑free!

As you know, we are one of a handful of charities where nearly every donation goes directly to funding camp programs and operations, a fact that makes us all especially proud!

Camp activities

No matter what you like, we have something for everyone.

Island trips

Almost every day we find ourselves on the Red Bus heading to some awesome part of the island. You can hear us singing a mile away.

Camp play

From Fame, to Grease, to Frankenstein, every year our musical is filled with amazing voices and stellar theatrical performances.

Horseback riding

Take a stroll through the wonderful Edgartown wilderness on the back of wild stallion. Or a tame one. Either way it’s great.

Arts and Crafts

Drawing, painting, sculpting, and spinning are all on the menu at the art cabin. Projects range from incredible to amazing.

Music

Every morning our voices are raised in song. Whether it’s in music class or on the bus, we’ve got a list of songs we’re learning every summer.

Technology

Our computer room has the latest and greatest in adaptive technology - allowing our campers to blog, vlog, draw, and surf on the computer.

Barbeques

What would summer be without a grill? Every now and then we heat up the charcoals and have ourselves a good ‘ol camp-wide barbeque.

Movie Nights

Tuckered out from the beach? Is town too far a walk? Sometimes we just have to stay in. Popcorn and water make a good movie into a great night.

Boating

Kayaks, row boats, the Black Dog, and the Skipper. Jabberwocky loves boats, and there is no shortage of them over the summer.

Biking

Thanks to wonderful donations from patrons like you we have two tandem recumbent bicycles. We enjoy the island in style and comfort.

Beach

If we didn’t live at camp, we’d probably live at the beach. After all, we’re the only ones with a parking spot large enough for a bus.

Concerts

Sometimes we just need to go full-on footloose and shake a leg. We might bring musicians to us, we might go to them!
